The Office spin-off The Paper switches to binge release

August 22, 2025 by Ricky Church

We are just two weeks away from the premiere of The Office spin-off The Paper, and it has just undergone a major change to its premiere.

When it was originally announced, The Paper was to have a weekly release schedule on NBC’s streaming service Peacock. That will no longer be the case as Peacock has opted to give the spin-off series a binge release, dropping all 10 episodes of its first season when it premieres on September 4th.

No reason has been given for the sudden change in its release format, but the first four episodes were to premiere on the 4th so perhaps Peacock thought it better to release them all at once rather than have six more weekly episodes. We’ll have to wait and see if there is more to the decision.

The Paper isn’t a full spin-off of The Office, but follows the same documentary crew as they begin documenting the workplace of another business, this time a smalltown newspaper trying to survive in an ever shifting media landscape. The only Office character to return in the spin-off is Oscar Nuñez’s Oscar Martinez, who is none too pleased to be once again on camera with the doc crew.

The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series “The Office” find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

The Paper features Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and Oscar Nuñez, with guest appearances from Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson, and Nancy Lenehan.

The Paper premieres on September 4th.
