The DC Extended Universe has often been criticized for being overly-influenced by Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, notably in its bleak tone, desaturated colors, and conflicted characters. And while we can debate whether this was a good decision or not, it did have one great side effect: giving us some genuinely sad moments in cinema.
