The Second Doctor to visit The Paternoster Gang in new audio adventure

July 24, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Three brand new audio adventures are coming for The Paternoster Gang this December from Big Finish Productions. The trio of detectives have already met the Fourth and Eighth Doctors but The Paternoster Gang: Trespassers – No Place Like Home will have them meeting the Second Doctor played by Michael Troughton.

No Place Like Home is the third of four box sets following a 12 episode story arc of alien infiltration in the Paternoster Gang with this trio of adventures finally revealing the secret of the shape-shifting trespassers.

The three new cases for Vastra and her companions to solve are:

  • Doppelgängers by Ken Bentley – Jenny (voiced by Catrin Stewart) escapes her shape-shifting captor through London’s sewers and returns to Paternoster Row but her captor, now disguised as Jenny, has infiltrated the Gang’s home turf with murder on their mind.
  • Jellyfish! by Neve McIntosh and Dan Starkey – As the gang try to relax on the Cornish coast giving chance for Madame Vastra (played by Neve McIntosh) to convalesce, something mysterious and dangerous lurks in the sea. The holiday is far from relaxing with the suspicious locals, strange storms and wreckers all pointing to a mystery that needs solving.
  • The Houseguest by Matt Fitton – As Vastra, Jenny and Strax return to London they find Paternoster Row has changed. A new criminal mastermind has taken control of the underworld and a crimewave has gripped the neighbourhood.  Not only that, they find their home is now a temporary residence of a man claiming to be the Doctor.

Joining the cast in these new adventures are Dan Starkey as the Sontaran butler Strax, Maggie Service and Derek Hutchinson.

Producer David Richardson said: “The secret of the Trespasser is revealed in this box set, and there are surprises in store! This is the first Paternoster Gang set written entirely by members of the team – Neve and Dan provide one very lovely episode, while the others are penned by our director Ken and script editor Matt. They are all writing with familiarity with the series while pushing it into new directions, and there are some wonderful belly laughs to be had too.”

The Paternoster Gang: Trespassers – No Place Like Home is available to pre-order now from the Big Finish website as collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set and download for £19.99 or as a digital download only for £16.99.
