The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game gets new trailer and release date

March 19, 2023 by Olly Dyche

The multiplayer survival horror video game based on the original 1974 movie of the same name, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, was announced last June, but other than a brief trailer  revealing some of its gameplay and that it will release some time in 2023, we haven’t heard much since.

However, a we now have a new trailer from Sumo Digital, which reveals that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game is set for a technical test on May 25th (wishlist the game on Steam or follow the official game social media channels for eligibility details) with an official release date in August for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Xbox and PC players will also be happy to learn that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be releasing on the Xbox Game Pass on day one.

The new trailer is incredibly brief but it gives fans who are excited for the game more looks at the brutal ways to kill victims. Fans of hit horror titles Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th can expect similar gameplay mechanics in this third-person asymmetrical horror experience, which allows players to take on the role of one of the notorious Sawyer family or as one of the victims. Playing as the Sawyer family, you must hunt down and kill each victim before they can escape your farm. Likewise, as the victims, you must all work together in finding creative ways to stun the Sawyers and escape with your lives.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is set for release on August 18th on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
