Ti West’s X prequel Pearl gets a poster ahead of the film’s first trailer

July 26, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Ahead of the trailer landing at some point today, A24 have a dropped a poster for Ti West’s Pearl, the Mia Goth starring prequel to his slasher hit X.

Covertly filmed in tandem with X, Pearl finds Mia Goth reprising her role as the titular villain she so brilliantly portrayed in the first movie. Only this time she’s without the prosthetics, as we journey back to 1919 and get to see some of the events that led her to becoming the farm-dwelling, axe-wielding monster we witnessed terrorising a film crew in 1979.

Once again written and directed by Ti West (The House of the Devil), Pearl was teased in a post-credit sting on X, which sadly we didn’t get to see in U.K. cinemas, but by all accounts featured Mia Goth as a young Pearl on the farm in its heyday, before cutting to a montage of her hacking and slashing at things, followed by an encounter with that hungry alligator, and the promise that it was “coming soon”.

West has spoken about how he envisions the world of X as a trilogy of films, so it will be interesting to see how he sets up a potential third chapter with Pearl. Let us know whether you’re excited to see Mia Goth in the role once again, or if you’re still too queasy from your first trip to the farm by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

Pearl is yet to receive a release date.
