Time-Warner boss says DC Films have room for improvement creatively

September 22, 2016 by Gary Collinson

2016 was meant to be the year that the DC Extended Universe exploded onto the scene, and while both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad have performed well at the box office, they’ve been mauled by critics, and left audiences divided.

We’ve already heard from DC Films boss Geoff Johns with regards to the studio adopting a new, lighter approach to the movies starting with Justice League, and now Time-Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes has stated on an investor conference call that there is “a little room for improvement”, but it’s something they are addressing.

“These movies were very successful in the strategic aims and the financial aims that we have for them,” said Bewkes (via Seeking Alpha). “The reboot of Batman with Ben Affleck was a big success. We can do a little better on the creative … What you shouldn’t take away is to be worried about them. We’re right on course or better.”

It certainly seems that everyone involved with the DC Extended Universe is saying the right things, and taking note of audience feedback in an effort to win back any fans who were disappointed by any of the previous offerings. Let’s hope they succeed.
