Tom Hanks joins Wes Anderson’s next film

August 3, 2021 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Tom Hanks has signed on to appear in Wes Anderson’s as-yet-untitled next film, with the trade stating that the Oscar-winner will feature in a small role that “could be came0-like in nature”.

The film will mark the first collaboration between Hanks and Anderson, although the director has already cast several of his regulars in Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Adrien Brody. Details are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that Anderson is writing and directing and filming is expected to take place in Spain.

Last seen in News of the World [read our review here], Hanks has several projects on his upcoming slate including the Amblin sci-fi Finch, Robert Zemeckis’ Pinocchio, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.

Anderson’s latest film The French Dispatch premiered at Cannes last month and is set for release on October 26th. Featuring in the cast are Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson.
