Tom Holland responds to Spider-Man: Homecoming criticism, Shazam! details, new look at Steppenwolf in Justice League and more – Daily News Roundup

HOLLAND RESPONDS

Just before its release, former Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst shared some savoury words about Spider-Man: Homecoming, calling it, “milking the cash cow”. Well the new Spidey Tom Holland has responded to these comments telling Movie ‘n’ Co, “You know, she’s entitled to her own opinion and I’m not one to judge at all. I definitely am not doing this movie for the money. I mean, it’s a job that I think anyone would do regardless of what you were getting paid, you know? All I know is I had the greatest time on this movie and I absolutely loved it and if she doesn’t want to go and see it, I don’t really care. I don’t dislike her in any way for what she said and she’s entitled to her own opinion, so it’s all cool.” Read more here.

NEW LEGO DIRECTOR

The director of the latest LEGO movie from Warner Bros. – The Billion Brick Race – has finally got a director in Book of Life‘s Jorge Gutierrez. The Billion Brick Race was first announced back in 2015, with Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Jason Segel (The Muppets) penning the script, although it seems both of those have now departed the project. Plot details are being kept firmly under wraps. Read more here.

SHAZAM!

Considering the director of DC Extended Universe movie Shazam! is Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation helmer David F. Sandberg, many have been wondering what his horror background will bring to the movie. “The big attraction for me with that character is the fact that every kid dreams of being Superman, right? I mean I certainly did, and Billy Batson is a kid that gets that chance,” he told The Toronto Sun. “He gets to become the superhero. So it’ll be big with superpowers in a way. In terms of what people can expect, I think this will be one of the more fun or lighthearted movies so far in the DC universe. It certainly will be a departure.” Read more here.
