ITV has released a trailer for Douglas Is Cancelled, the four-part comedy drama series from Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Sherlock).
Hugh Bonneville stars as Douglas Bellowes, a newsreader and national treasure who finds his career threatened when a fellow guest at his cousin’s wedding exposes a sexist joke he made during the celebrations on social media. Watch the trailer below…
“Douglas is regarded as a national treasure and apparently, can do no wrong, until he makes an ill-advised joke at his cousin’s wedding, which is overheard by a fellow guest, who threatens to expose his comments on social media. Speculation is rife and during the on-going hysteria and digital storm, Douglas’s alleged indiscretion is dissected, analysed and blown out of all proportion.
