Universal sets Valentine’s Day 2019 release date for Happy Death Day 2U

September 29, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Universal Pictures has announced that it has set a February 14th 2019 release date for the Blumhouse Productions horror sequel Happy Death Day 2U.

The follow-up to last year’s Happy Death Day – which grossed $123 million worldwide from a budget of just $4.8 million – will reunite writer-director Christopher Landon with stars Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard, while Suraj Sharma (Homeland) and Sarah Yarkin (American Horror Story). have also joined the cast.

The original film saw Rothe playing Tree Gelbman, a college student who is forced to relive the day of her murder over and over again until she can unmask her killer.

Plot details on Happy Death Day 2U are being kept under wraps, but it is known that it will pick up events immediately after the first movie “in a Back to the Future-like style” and will answer questions about the time loop.
