Veronica Mars creator adapting DC Comics’ iZombie for The CW

November 8, 2013 by admin

The CW certainly likes its DC Comics properties at the moment. Notwithstanding the proposed Wonder Woman pilot Amazon, the network has the hit series Arrow and the potential spin-off The Flash, not to mention a pilot for Hourman, which was announced just this week.

Well, we can add another to the ever-growing list, although rather than sticking with superheroes The CW is looking to capitalise on the success of AMC’s The Walking Dead with an adaptation of Chris Roberson and Michael Allred’s comic book series iZombie, published by DC imprint Vertigo.

As per Deadline, iZombie “is a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”

The proposed series is being developed by Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, alongside Diane Ruggiero, executive producer on Veronica Mars and Cupid and screenwriter of the upcoming Veronica Mars movie.
