Vin Diesel thinks it’s a mistake for Marvel to abandon the Inhumans movie

January 22, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Before Marvel Studios decided to bump Inhumans from its slate, Guardians of the Galaxy star Vin Diesel lobbied hard for a part in the movie, with numerous rumours linking him to the role of Black Bolt.

Well, Marvel is finally set to move forward with The Inhumans, albeit as a TV series from ABC and IMAX; during an interview with Screen Rant to promote his new film xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Diesel was asked for his thought on the project, and it seems he thinks it’s a mistake for Marvel to abandon its feature film ambitions.

“I think Marvel should never—I don’t think Marvel should abandon their opportunity to make a film out of it. I think it could be a huge, huge saga, and if I had more time I would go over to Marvel and have that very conversation. But I think it would be a big mistake for Marvel to abandon their ambitions or their objective or their goals of making it into a film, because it would make such a cool universe.”

Given that The Inhumans TV series is set to delve into the world of Black Bolt and the Royal Family (unlike Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which steered clear of the big hitters), it would be a huge surprise if Marvel Studios does decide to revive its movie plans. So, unless Diesel is prepared to make the jump to TV, it looks like he’s going to have to make do with voicing Groot…

The Inhumans is slated to begin production in March ahead of its premiere in September. Meanwhile, Diesel will be back as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which opens on May 5th.
