Wargaming reveals biggest ever update for World of Tanks

August 20, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Wargaming has announced that the biggest update to World of Tanks (update 2.0) will arrive on 3rd September. The 2.0 update is the most ambitious in the game’s history and will bring significant changes, including the addition of the brand-new Tier XI tanks.  Check out the World of Tanks 2.0 trailer unveiled at Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live event, along with a new cinematic trailer below…

The 2.0 update will bring huge changes to the game. As mentioned above, there will be the addition of Tier XI tanks, there will be 17 new tanks available in this Tier (with more to release in the future), with each having unique gameplay mechanics. There will also be a new progression system for players to work through, though anyone who’d rather skip the grind can browse these World of Tanks accounts already stocked with high-tier vehicles. As for other Tiers of tanks, there will be more than 350 vehicles undergoing a rework to ensure fairer gameplay and deliver smarter roles.

A new Hanger will also be introduced, and where better to show off your tanks than in a tank factory where vehicles are assembled, equipped, and always ready for battle.

Wargaming will be introducing an enhanced UI that will be more streamlined, functional and informative, plus there’ll be a new matchmaker that has been built from the ground up to ensure faster queues and better team balances. Tank Commanders will also get to enjoy a sound upgrade with more authentic tank sounds recorded from real vehicles, beefier sounding battles and a more immersive soundscape that will provide a better battle experience.

The FV4025 Contriver Tier XI British Heavy Tank

Other new additions will be a never-before-seen map that will take commanders to the Scandinavian region of Nordskar, and a brand-new PVE event called ‘Operation Boiling Point’, which sets the backdrop for the arrival of the Tier XI tanks, allowing players to try out three different Tier XI tanks on a brand-new battlefield.

Look out for this new era for World of Tanks starting on 3rd September.
