Warner Bros. Animation keen on revisiting Flashpoint for Batman story

April 13, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Despite having adapted the story arc with the 2013 movie Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Warner Bros. Animation supervising producer James Tucker has revealed that he’s keen on revisiting Flashpoint, albeit from the perspective of Thomas Wayne, as opposed to Barry Allen.

“The thing we never got to do with Flashpoint was the Flashpoint Batman story,” Tucker tells Comic Book. “You know there was no time in the Flashpoint movie to tell that particular story. We did our little-abbreviated snippet to show you how Joker came about, but there’s a whole three comic book arc of that that was in the comics, and I always wanted to bring that to the screen.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Flashpoint, the story sees Barry Allen radically changing the DC universe. In this new timeline, Batman is actually Thomas Wayne, who donned the cape and cowl after young Bruce was murdered rather than the Waynes – an act that ultimately drives Martha insane, and turns her into the Flashpoint incarnation of The Joker.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Flashpoint Batman animated movie? What other DC stories would you like to see adapted as DC Universe Animated Original Movies? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below..
