Warner Bros.’ shelved Coyote vs. Acme movie saved by Ketchup Entertainment

March 31, 2025 by Gary Collinson

One of the two biggest casualties of Warner Bros. Discovery’s cost-cutting measures back in 2023 is set to escape the Warner vault, with Deadline reporting that the live-action/animated hybrid Coyote vs. Acme has been acquired for worldwide distribution by Ketchup Entertainment in a deal said to be in the region of $50 million.

The already-completed Coyote vs. Acme movie was shelved in November of 2023 alongside DC Films’ Batgirl as part of cost-saving measures following Warner Bros.’ merger with Discovery. The decision was slammed both by audiences and those involved with the movie, including actor Will Forte who called the decision “fucking bullshit”. Now however, it is gearing up for release under Ketchup, who last year rescued and released another Looney Tunes project from Warner Bros. in The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie.

“We’re thrilled to have made a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to bring this film to audiences worldwide,” said Gareth West, CEO of Ketchup Entertainment. “Coyote vs. Acme is a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern storytelling, capturing the essence of the beloved Looney Tunes characters while introducing them to a new generation. We believe it will resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

Coyote vs. Acme is directed by Dave Green (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) from a script by Samy Burch (May December) and features a cast that includes Will Forte, John Cena, Lana Condor, Tone Bell  P.J. Byrne, Martha Kelly, and Looney Tunes voice actor Eric Bauza.

Coyote vs. Acme is expected to release worldwide in 2026.
