Warner Bros. to launch Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe with Scooby-Doo reboot S.C.O.O.B.

April 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was revealed that Warner Bros. is bringing back the Mystery, Inc. gang for an animated big screen Scooby-Doo feature in 2018, and yesterday at CinemaCon the studio announced that the now-titled S.C.O.O.B. will be the first step in “unlocking the whole Hanna-Barbera universe.”

The iconic animation studio is of course responsible for some of the best-loved characters of the 20th century, including the likes of The Flintstones, Wacky Races, The Jetsons, Johnny Quest, Top Cat, Hong Kong Phooey and Yogi Bear. A this point, it’s unclear which properties will follow Scooby-Doo, and whether we’ll see crossovers between the various cartoons.

S.C.O.O.B. will be directed by Tony Cervone (Space Jam, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated) from a script by Matt Lieberman (Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief), with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle (Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed) serving as producers. It is set for release on September 21st, 2018.
