With Backrooms packing the multiplexes with a hitherto unseen Gen Z audience, studios are keen to tap into this demographic, and so according to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. have won a highly competitive bidding war for the rights to the viral sensation Siren Head.
What’s more, they’ve hired horror director de-jour Cregger to write the movie alongside Whalefall director Brian Duffield, who is reportedly set to helm the film.
Siren Head is created by Canadian creature designer Trevor Henderson, and is a one of the most iconic of the “creepypasta” monsters. A tall, skeletal humanoid with two sirens in place of a head, who emits emergency alerts and distorted voices.
Cregger will also produce the film alongside his Weapons collaborators Roy Lee and Andrew Childs of Vertigo Entertainment.
Next up for Cregger is his highly anticipated take on Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise, which hits cinemas on September 18.
