Wesley Snipes to star in environmentally friendly heist thriller Payline

April 23, 2019 by Gary Collinson

While he awaits that call from Marvel about reprising the role of Blade (you know – the one he keeps teasing every few months), Wesley Snipes has signed up to executive produce and star in the independent heist thriller Payline., which will see him portraying a villain for the first time since 1993’s Demolition Man.

As per THR, the film is described as a cross between Ocean’s 11 and Free Fire, and takes place in a small-town casino which is turned into a battleground as two different crews attempt to rob it on the same night. Snipes will portray the leader of one of the two groups, a team of ex-soldiers.

Apparently, the plan is for the production to be environmentally friendly, with Snipes stating that: “This is a vehicle to demonstrate the next generation of indie filmmaking in a 5G powered world. It is our goal to show how a 100 percent Certified Renewable Energy film production can show love for the environment, community and still produce a kick-ass popcorn movie.”

Snipes will next be seen alongside Eddie Murphy in Netflix’s Rudy Ray Moore biopic Dolemite Is My Name, and also stars RZA’s upcoming action drama Cut Throat City.
