Video Review – Why Netflix’s Blonde is 2022’s Most Shocking Film

September 29, 2022 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno reviews the shocking Netflix film Blonde…

We all know Ana de Armas is a star, but Blonde is the first time the actress has genuinely shined in a leading role. Yet, the film is so controversial and shocking that it could scare away specific viewers. For critic EJ Moreno, the shock art nature of Netflix’s Blonde is exactly why you need to watch it.

Our latest video review breaks down the film itself, the ‘OMG’ moments, and why playing Marilyn Monroe feels way too close to home for an actress like Ana de Armas.

Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the life of one of Hollywood’s most enduring icons, Marilyn Monroe. From her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements, Blonde blurs the lines of fact and fiction to explore the widening split between her public and private selves.

Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, Blonde sees Ana de Armas leading a cast that includes Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel, and Evan Williams.

Blonde is streaming now on Netflix.
