Wonder Woman 2 will feature a “grand and now full-blown Wonder Woman”

September 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Having dealt with her origin in this year’s DC blockbuster Wonder Woman, director Patty Jenkins has revealed to ET Online that she is looking forward to getting the opportunity to explore a “grand and now full-blown” Amazon Princess in the 2019 sequel.

“The greatest thing about making this [the first Wonder Woman] movie was the fact that you’re really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie,” said Jenkins. “The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories. Here’s Wonder Woman, and what can she do? It should be a totally different movie, but a grand and now full-blown Wonder Woman in the world.”

So far, all that is known about Wonder Woman 2 is that it will see Gal Gadot reprising the role of Diana Prince, while it has been rumoured that the film will take place at some point in the 1980s during the Cold War.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman sees Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure), Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead) and Ann Wolf.
