Zack Snyder says he won’t be returning to help complete Justice League

September 20, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Despite rumors that he would be returning to the set of Justice League to assist Joss Whedon in finishing the film, it looks like Zack Snyder has stepped for good.  Speaking to Wired about his latest film Snow Steam Iron, a short film that he has shot entirely on an iPhone [watch the trailer here], the director provided an update in regards to where he stands with Justice League.

Snyder stressed that returning to production would be “unfair in a lot of ways” before going into further detail: “I’m at a place where I feel excited about it and I’m happy for my guys and I love these people that are working on it, and they’re my family and I think they’re doing an amazing job. But I’ve kind of just let them do their thing.”

As we know, Zack Snyder decided to step down from directing duties following the sad news that his daughter had passed away. Whedon, who will be given a writing credit on the film, will reportedly be reteaining Snyder’s vision – though he will be tweaking the “connective tissue” of the movie. So, while it’s sad that Snyder won’t be able to finish what he started, at least audiences can see what he intended to put on screen.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
