Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon fills out cast, new concept art released

February 10, 2022 by Ricky Church

Zack Snyder has filled out several roles for his upcoming sci-fi film Rebel Moon for Netflix as the filmmaker has revealed over Twitter that Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Ray Fisher (Zack Snyder’s Justice League), Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place Part II) and Bae Doona (Th Silent Sea) have joined Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) in the cast.

Rounding out the cast are Jena Malone (Goliath), Staz Nair (Supergirl), E. Duffy (Girlfriends), Charlotte Maggi (MaveriX) and Sky Yang (Holding) in what  is now a two-part film. Additionally, Snyder shared more concept art from the film which you can check out in his tweet here…

Honored to welcome this incredible cast to Rebel Moon. Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, and Ray Fisher join previously announced Sofia Boutella. Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, & Sky Yang round out the cast. More to come. Let's go! #RebelMoon @Netflix pic.twitter.com/a9Zpmt2BzW

Rebel Moon is “set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand the Tyrant.”

Not much is known about the characters the cast will play, but Hounsou will star as “a military figure named General Titus, while Bae is “a nemesis who is proficient with a sword” and Fisher is “a resistance fighter named Blood Axe.”

Production will begin in April and apparently run through to November as Snyder plans to shoot both parts back-to-back.

Snyder and his wife Deborah Snyder’s production company Stone Quarry signed a first-look deal with Netflix after the success of the zombie-heist film Army of the Dead. Since even before the release of the zombie flick, Snyder has teased an expansion of his Army of the Dead universe with the recently released prequel Army of Thieves and the upcoming anime prequel Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas as well as future sequels. He has also teased several other projects through his partnership with Netflix with Rebel Moon being just one of them.
