Wes Bentley apparently Christopher Nolan’s recommendation for the new Batman

August 18, 2013 by admin

Well, it’s been a while since we’ve had any more names pulled out of the hat as potential candidates to take over the role of The Dark Knight in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, but fear not as CosmicBookNews has came up with a few more this weekend.

According to the site, who has a dubious track record at best, Christopher Nolan has made his recommendation to Zack Snyder, tipping Wes Bentley (Ghost Rider, The Hunger Games) – who happens to be shooting Nolan’s next film Interstellar as we speak – as Christian Bale’s successor under the cape and cowl. Meanwhile, they also claim that Luke Evans (Immortals, The Crow) and the previously rumoured Ben Affleck (Daredevil, Argo) will be offered screen tests, while screenwriter David S. Goyer is said to be keen on Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain).

These four actors become the latest names to join an ever-increasing list of actors said to be under consideration, including Josh Brolin (Oldboy), Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Josh Duhamel (Transformers), Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Gerard Butler (300), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Brad Pitt (World War Z), Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings), Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen) and Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2).

With Batman vs. Superman aiming for a 2015 release, Warner Bros. will surely be looking to finalise the next Dark Knight in the next month or so, at which point all this rampant speculation can start turning its attention towards the plot…
