Hugh Jackman says it’s inevitable Fox will recast Wolverine

March 3, 2014 by admin

With the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past this May, Hugh Jackman will have made seven appearances as Wolverine, and while talking to IGN, the star has discussed his time as the clawed hero, and whether he thinks Fox had given any consideration to recasting the role of Logan, particularly with a younger actor for 2011’s X-Men: First Class…

“I’m sure they had the discussion. They didn’t mention it to me, obviously! Look, that’s inevitable, man. Anyone who thinks they’re indispensable in this business is fooling themselves. But I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part. I never thought in a million years I’d get to play him seven times. Every day I walk on the set with the claws and the hair, I thank my lucky stars. I don’t take any of it for granted. To think that in a second version we’d have this cast and this director, and you guys don’t know the script, but I would say probably the best script of all of them, is pretty amazing. I think that’s why I’m still here. I’m sure by the way, that it won’t always be my decision to always be here. At some point, someone will close the door on me.”

Presumably, Jackman will reprise his role in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, but beyond that remains to be seen. Would you rather they stuck with Jackman, or is it time the character was recast? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or head on over to The Flickering Myth Forum…

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for release on May 23rd with a cast that also includes James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Lucas Till (Havok), Halle Berry (Storm), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) alongside franchise newcomers Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as Warpath, Fan Binbing (Iron Man 3) as Blink, Adan Canto (The Following) as Sunspot, Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) as William Stryker, Evan Jonigkeit (Girls) as Toad, and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Bolivar Trask.
