Sylvester Stallone working on Rambo 5, Expendables spin-offs

June 23, 2014 by admin

It has been in talks for some time now, but it looks like Rambo 5 is back on the cards, with Stallone working on a script that is said to be his “version of No Country For Old Men“.

This is a translation from German film site Film Futter, which claims:

“With ‘Rambo V‘ Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of ‘No Country for Old Men.’ Like the last film, ‘Rambo V‘ is produced by Avi Lerner (“The Expendables 1-3“)”

We last saw Stallone play the titular character in 2009’s Rambo which earned over $110 million worldwide.

In Expendables news, Film Divider claim that Stallone will take a back seat after The Expendables 3 but will work on and appear in its spin-offs The Expendebelles (a female version of The Expendables) and a “new generation” concept of Expendables which is yet to be titled.

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney, Christmas and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The Expendables 3 opens on August 15th with Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) directing a cast that sees returning Expendables Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Jet Li and franchise newcomers Harrison Ford (Star Wars), Wesley Snipes (Blade), Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), Kellan Lutz (The Legend of Hercules), Kelsey Grammer (X-Men: The Last Stand), Glen Powell (The Dark Knight Rises), Ronda Rousey (Fast & Furious 7), and Victor Ortiz.
