Pierce Brosnan wants to be one of The Expendables

July 1, 2014 by James Garcia

Sylvester Stallone and his band of geriatric action stars have united on the big screen twice now as The Expendables. The storylines may be generic, and the action may be over the top, but it’s the star power behind the films that really draws in audiences.

Stallone has brought such iconic action film stars as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme into the fold, and is expanding that cast even more in this year’s The Expendables 3. Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Kelsey Grammer, Antonio Banderas, and Wesley Snipes will be joining the fray this time around, in what is being marketed as the final film in the franchise.

Of course, if the film makes money there’s little chance the franchise will actually end. So, how do you go bigger once the likes of Rambo, The Terminator, Zorro, George Wallace, Beast, Blade, Han Solo, and John McClane have shared the screen? Why, you bring in James Bond, of course!

In a recent interview with Coming Soon, former 007 Pierce Brosnan expressed his interest in jumping on board the next Expendables film, and says he’s already had casual talks with producer Avi Lerner about future sequel appearances:

“I said to Avi Lerner, ‘If it works out and you have a good script, Avi, you know where to find me if you still want me.’ It’s as simple as that really. I had a grand time in his company. Sylvester Stallone is the one that’s given us these wonderful platforms for actors who have had careers to go play and have fun and to entertain. To bring a bunch of guys together who saved the world, fought the bad guys, and put them all on the same stage, that’s crazy good. It’s just about entertainment. Avi is somebody I’ve heard about and his movies always have big brash entertainment value to them. You can really change the world and that’s great, but “The Expendables?” Yeah, I’d love to do “The Expendables.” It’s just a kick in the pants.”

What do you think? Would you like to see Brosnan join The Expendables 4? Sound off in the comments.
