King Kong will be 100 feet tall in Kong: Skull Island

June 26, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in October of last year, Legendary Pictures announced that its upcoming Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla 2 movies would be followed in 2020 by the ultimate monster showdown in Godzilla vs. Kong.

Given the enormity of Godzilla in Gareth Edwards’ reboot, there had been some discussion as to how King Kong could stand up to the King of the Monsters, and now we have the answer thanks to Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

“This is going to be the biggest Kong there’s ever been,” Vogt-Roberts tells The Hollywood Reporter. Not 10 foot or 30 foot, but a 100-foot ape.”

In the 1933 version of King Kong, the great ape was described as being 50 feet tall, while he shrunk down for Peter Jackson’s remake, where he was said to be 25 feet in height. Still, Legendary’s Godzilla is a whopping 350 feet, so he’s still going to have a major height advantage over his adversary…

Reilly (The Lobster), Thomas Mann (Me and Girl and the Dying Girl), Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead), Toby Kebbell (Fantastic Four), Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Samuel L. Jackson (Avengers: Age of Ultron), John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook) and Shea Whigham (Cop Car).
