Would Joseph Gordon-Levitt don the Batsuit for Justice League?

September 10, 2012 by admin

Promoting his new film Looper at the Toronto International Film Festival this week [read our TIFF review here], The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt was asked whether he’d be keen to don the cape and cowl as Batman for Warner Bros.’ proposed superhero team-up Justice League, which has apparently been earmarked by the studio as the platform to reintroduce the Caped Crusader following Christian Bale’s turn in the Dark Knight trilogy.

His response? Well, it’s very similar to his recent comments about whether he’d be up for reprising the role of John Blake in a Nolan-free sequel to The Dark Knight Rises: “It always depends,” Gordon-Levitt told MTV News. “I always pick projects that I want to be involved in for the same reasons. Is the script really good? Is the filmmaker a really inspired artist that I feel connected to? That’s what I always pay attention to.”

Unfortunately for Warner Bros., Christopher Nolan has firmly ruled himself out of contention for Justice League, and while the likes of Ben Affleck (Argo), Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand), McG (Terminator Salvation), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and Andy and Lana Wachowski (Cloud Atlas) have all been rumoured as potential candidates to direct the movie, so far the studio has remained firmly tight-lipped about its plans for the DC Comics ensemble.
