Mark Millar confirms that X-Men and The Fantastic Four will share the same universe

August 19, 2013 by admin

Comic book creator Mark Millar has had a bit of a busy weekend, what with the release of the latest Millarworld adaptation Kick-Ass 2 [read our reviews here and here], but that hasn’t stopped him from talking about his duties as creative consultant on 20th Century Fox’s Marvel properties, specifically the upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four from Chronicle director Josh Trank. During an interview with SFX, Millar has confirmed that the reboot will share the same universe as the X-Men.

“Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies,” states Millar, teasing that a crossover is on the cards as Fox’s X-Men universe continues to grow. “I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”

Before Trank reboots The Fantastic Four in 2015, director Bryan Singer is set to bring together the casts of the original X-Men trilogy and Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class for next year’s mutant epic X-Men: Days of Future Past, while Kick-Ass 2 helmer Jeff Wadlow is currently hard at work developing the script for another X-Men spin-off X-Force, which is currently without a firm release date.
