Mark Strong teases Lex Luthor role in Superman vs Batman

August 8, 2013 by admin

Before Warner Bros. announced that it was to bring together DC’s two most iconic superheroes for Superman vs Batman, a rumour emerged tipping Mark Strong (Kick-Ass, Green Lantern) for the role of Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel. Now the British actor has hinted that their could be some truth in the speculation, with Strong stating “all I can say is… watch this space” when asked by Digital Spy whether their was any truth in the reports that the could be set to play Superman’s arch-nemesis.

Strong is not the only actor to have been tipped to play the billionaire industrialist, with Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Silver Linings Playbook) touted as a potential candidate prior to the release of Man of Steel, and Bryan Cranston’s (Breaking Bad, Argo) name also being brought up in recent days. Of course, we don’t even have official confirmation that Luthor will feature in the movie, but considering there were several references to LexCorp in Man of Steel, it would seem likely that Superman will find himself going up against the criminal genius when the film arrives in cinemas in 2015 (especially if the Wayne Enterprises logo is any indication.

Superman vs Batman will reunite Man of Steel director Zack Snyder, screenwriter David S. Goyer and stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White). Meanwhile the list of alleged candidates for the rebooted Batman include Josh Brolin (Oldboy), Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives), Joe Manganiello (True Blood), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Max Martini (Pacific Rim), Matthew Goode (Watchmen), Josh Duhamel (Transformers), Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes), Gerard Butler (300), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Brad Pitt (World War Z), Ben Affleck (Argo), Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen).
