Paul Giamatti teases The Sinister Six for The Amazing Spider-Man 3

September 10, 2013 by admin

A few days ago we heard from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Paul Giamatti about hamming it up as the Russian gangster Aleksei Sytsevich – a.k.a. The Rhino – in Sony’s forthcoming superhero sequel, and now the actor has been speaking more about his role as one of several villains going up against Andrew Garfield’s wall-crawler in the follow-up to last year’s reboot. Or more specifically, whether he thinks the foundations are being laid for the introduction of The Sinister Six in 2016’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

“I believe there’s a lot of stage-setting for the next film,” Giamatti tells MTV. “There are several villains in this movie, and some of them are more foreground and important. Jamie Foxx [Electro] is and stuff. A couple of us are more hanging around the background because I think there will be a bigger deal… I don’t actually know [if The Sinister Six is the plan], but that seems to be what they’re doing. I’m not an idiot either, but I can’t claim hard and fast knowledge of this. I won’t. I can’t because I don’t actually know, but you and I can speculate.”

It is of course not the first time that The Sinister Six has been teased for Sony’s Spidey universe (see this production photo featuring producer Avi Arad, for starters), and with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set to feature the likes of Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) alongside Electro and The Rhino – not to mention rumoured appearances from The Vulture, Black Cat, and even Carnage – then like Giamatti says it certainly seems plausible that we’ll get to see Spidey’s foes teaming up at some point in the next two movies.
