Thanks to the ever-reliable Dark Knight fansite Batman-on-Film, we have a new rumour about Ben Affleck’s ride in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, with a report suggesting that Bruce Wayne could be turning to a Cadillac for the latest version of the iconic Batmobile.
“The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood,” reports this site. “This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for Transformers: Age of Extinction with Michael Bay – who was very hands-on and involved in the design/building process for the new Bumblebee Camaro. Anyway, back to the new Batmobile… It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy. As of about four weeks ago, it was still “pictures on the wall” – meaning nothing had actually been built yet… An “old Cadillac” will feature prominently in the film. When I remarked to my source that the Cadillac Sixteen concept car from a few years back looked a lot like a Batmobile, he stayed mum.”
The site goes on to speculate that the Cadillac in question could actually turn out to be the new Batmobile, which wouldn’t be the first time that the Dark Knight has driven such a vehicle – in the first first Batman movie serial from 1943, a black Cadillac convertible served as the car of choice for both Lewis Wilson’s Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego Batman.
