Matthew Vaughn distances The Fantastic Four reboot from Fox’s previous two movies

March 4, 2014 by admin

We’re still yet to get official confirmation from 20th Century Fox as to the cast (even though it seems all but assured at this point), but with The Fantastic Four gearing up to go into production this month, producer Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class) has spoken briefly about the reboot to Empire, during which he made sure to distance it from Fox’s previous FF movies.

“It’s a total reboot. It’s got nothing to with the other bloody ones,” said Vaughn, referring to Fantastic Four and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, both of which starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis as Marvel’s First Family. “It’s not a stretchy guy and a guy running around in rock that looks like it’s made of polystyrene. And it’s not a comedy.”

Let’s hope that they do stick with some of the source material, and there is a “stretchy guy” in there somewhere…

The Fantastic Four is set for release on June 19th 2015, with Josh Trank (Chronicle) directing a cast that will reportedly include Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now, That Awkward Moment) as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Kate Mara (American Horror Story, House of Cards) as Susan Storm / The Invisible Woman, Jamie Bell (Billy Elliott, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn) and Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station) as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch.
