Grant Gustin talks The Flash

May 30, 2014 by Gary Collinson

As he prepares to bring The Flash to the screen in The CW’s upcoming Arrow spin-off, former Glee star Grant Gustin has spoken about taking on the role of DC’s Scarlett Speedster during an interview with IGN:

“Barry’s just excited by all of this. He’s a fanboy! And I don’t have to hide my excitement as I play the role, so it’s really fun to play with. At the same time though, it’s in a reality-based world, so there is an aspect of him that’s a little worried about what’s happening to his body. But at the same time, once he starts to get a handle on it, it’s the coolest thing that’s happened to anybody, as far as Barry is concerned. We’re not going to play the same game that they played on Arrow, where [his alter-ego] was a secret. There will be some characters that Barry’s specifically trying to keep it from, but his circle – for the most part – is going to know that he’s The Flash.”

Gustin then went on to confirm that there are plans for crossovers between Arrow and The Flash, although obviously it’s early days when it comes to planning: “I don’t know which characters, but there are going to be crossovers for sure between the two shows. I don’t know who it’s going to be, but yes, that’s gonna happen.”

The Flash is set to get underway in the Fall and sees Grant Gustin (Glee) leading the cast as Barry Allen alongside the likes of Candice Patton (The Game) as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order) as Detective West, Patrick Sabongui (Almost Human) as David Singh, Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th) as Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost, Rick Gosnett (The Vampire Diaries) as Eddie Thawne, Broadway star Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon / Vibe, Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD) as Nora Allen and Tom Cavanagh (Ed) as Harrison Wells.
