Jason Momoa denies Batman vs. Superman casting rumours… again

May 20, 2014 by Gary Collinson

If you’ve been following all the Batman vs. Superman rumours then you’ll know that several sites have reported former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is a lock for the Man of Steel sequel, or maybe Justice League, or possibly even an entirely different DC movie altogether. And he’s definitely playing Aquaman. Or is it Lobo..?

Despite having previously denied his involvement, there’s still claims floating around that Momoa is set to join the DC Cinematic Universe in the 2016 sequel, so ComicBook put the question to the actor during an appearance at the Motor City Comic Con.

“What does everything tell you? No. Stop asking me. It’s so annoying… You know what, I think it started when people said ‘What superhero would you play?’ And I’d say Batman and Superman, they’d be awesome together. Then people were like, ‘He’s in Batman vs. Superman!’ I’m like, I really like Lobo. ‘HE’S LOBO!!’ And then some asshole was like ‘He’s Aquaman!’ And I’m like – what did you just call me? Where the f*** do you pull out Aquaman? Seriously… And then it shows up on the internet. Not that it’s a bad rumor.”

Well, that seems like more than enough evidence to put this rumour to bed. After all, Warner Bros. hasn’t been shy announcing its cast for Batman vs. Superman, so there’s absolutely no reason that they’d want to keep his involvement a secret. Unless he’s Doomsday. Which has probably been “scooped” somewhere already.

Batman vs. Superman is set for release on May 6th 2016, with a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth. and Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire) and Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
