Tim Blake Nelson in talks for Mole Man role in The Fantastic Four

May 1, 2014 by Gary Collinson

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tim Blake Nelson is in final talks with 20th Century Fox about joining the cast of director Josh Trank’s (Chronicle) reboot of The Fantastic Four.

Nelson – who played Samuel Sterns / The Leader in Marvel Studios’ The Incredible Hulk – is said to be up for the role of Harvey Elder, better known in the comic books as Mole Man, a supervillain who made his first appearance in 1961’s The Fantastic Four #1.

According to the site’s sources, “Mole Man will not appear in this movie but Elder’s appearance does set up the character to be the villain in future installments of the franchise.”

Should they reach a deal, Nelson will join a cast that so far includes Miles Teller (Divergent) as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (House of Cards) as Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing and Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom.
