Rundown of the Avengers: Age of Ultron footage shown at London screening

July 15, 2014 by Luke Owen

During the 17-minute preview of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (read our report here), Kevin Feige gave us a bonus glimpse at what we can expect from Avengers: Age of Ultron with a “on set” video that will most likely be shown at their Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.

In the footage, we saw:

  • Clips from the previous Marvel movies cut together
  • Possible voice over from James Spader as Ultron
  • The post-credit sequence from Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in their perspex boxes
  • The filmmakers talking about taking the movie “all around the world”
  • A scene in Italy with Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye fighting side by side
  • Tony Stark holding Loki’s staff from The Avengers
  • A scene in Africa with Captain America and Black Widow on a motorway
  • Pre-visuals of Hulk vs. Hulk Buster Iron Man (Joss Whedon said this was the first thing he wanted to have in the movie)
  • Shots of inside Avengers Tower (with green screen outside the windows)
  • Joss talking about the Avengers Tower set being “the most beautiful he’s ever worked on”
  • The Avengers Tower has separate areas for Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to work in
  • Tony Stark in his Iron Man suit (not the one from Iron Man 3)

The footage was very, very cool and it looks to be pretty epic. Much of what was in the footage has been seen in the set photos that have leaked online since production began. There were a lot of other shots of Black Widow, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man but with no connection or through line.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release in the UK on April 24th 2015 and North America on May 1st 2015, with Joss Whedon directing a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Paul Bettany (JARVIS / The Vision), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), James Spader (Ultron), Thomas Kretschmann (Baron Strucker) and Josh Brolin (Thanos).
