Don’t expect to see a crossover between Gotham and Arrow

October 17, 2014 by Gary Collinson

During the second episode of FOX’s Batman prequel series Gotham, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed the Queen Consolidated logo from The CW’s Arrow, which naturally led to speculation about the possibility a crossover between the two DC Comics-based shows. Of course, with Gotham and Arrow on different networks it seemed highly unlikely, and now executive producers from both shows have pretty ruled out the possibility… for the time being, at least.

“The internet did point out to me the Queen Consolidated [logo] – or what looked like a Queen consolidated Easter egg. I’m still actually trying to find out how intentional that was. Let me just say the investigation is ongoing,” said Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim, before discussing Gotham’s use of The Dollmaker, a character who has already appeared on Arrow during its second season: “[The Dollmaker] I think it’s a great thing that we have all these DC shows and all these superhero shows, all these comic book shows… It’s wonderful, and whenever they can connect together that’s great. But I also see the benefit of not being tied to one continuity, so your hands are not tied.”

“I gotta tell you, i[the Queen Consolidated logo] was completely unintentional,” added Danny Cannon, executive producer on Gotham. “Somebody spotted it in the cutting room, but we move so fast, we were like, ‘that’s cool, leave it in! don’t talk about it!’ We were stealing – the visual effects guys were stealing neon letters from other places, and that was one that worked. But it was unintentional… It’s a very different tone, our show. [They’re] apples and oranges.”

Would you like to see a crossover between Gotham and Arrow, or are they best kept to their own distinct worlds?
