Netflix is developing series based on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events

November 6, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Recently Netflix has been developing a lot more original content, and now the streaming service has announced it is to produce a series based on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which will be co-produced by Paramount Television.

Vice-president of original content for Netflix, Cindy Holland stated: “On the search for fantastic material that appeals to both parents and kids, the first stop for generations of readers is A Series of Unfortunate Events. The world created by Lemony Snicket is unique, darkly funny, and relatable. We can’t wait to bring it to life for Netflix members.”

The novels are actually penned by author Daniel Handler, who is often mistaken for the fictional character Lemony Snicket, the storyteller in his novels. Back in 2004, a movie was produced starring Jim Carrey as Count Olaf.

It is unknown when production on the series will start or when it will be available to stream on Netflix as of yet.

Are you excited that these books will be adapted into a Netflix series? Let us know…
