New York Film Circle Critics award Boyhood Best Film of 2014

The New York Film Circle Critics just announced their 2014 winners and they are crazy about Richard Linklater’s passion project Boyhood.

Who are these critics? Here is an excerpt from the NYFCC webpage:

“Founded in 1935, the Circle’s membership includes critics from daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines, and qualifying on-line general-interest publications. Every year in December the organization meets in New York to vote on awards for the previous calendar year’s films.”

2014 winners compiled by Variety from NYFCC tweets:

Best Film: Boyhood
Best Director: Richard Linklater, Boyhood
Best Actress: Marion Cotillard, The Immigrant and Two Days, One Night
Best Actor: Timothy Spall, Mr. Turner
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Best Supporting Actor: J. K. Simmons, Whiplash
Best Screenplay: Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel
Best First Film: Jennifer Kent, The Babadook
Best Non-Fiction Film: Laura Poitras, Citizenfour
Best Cinematography: Darius Khondji, The Immigrant
Best Foreign Language Film: Ida
Best Animated Film: The Lego Movie
