Ridley Scott hasn’t ruled out directing Blade Runner 2

December 3, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Last week it was reported – without any direct quotes from the man himself – that Ridley Scott has decided to pass on directing his planned Blade Runner sequel. However, it seems that isn’t quite the case, with Scott telling Yahoo! Movies that he’s yet to make up his mind and would find it difficult to hand it over to another director.

“I don’t know about [not directing Blade Runner 2] yet,” said Scott during a promotional interview for his latest film Exodus: Gods and Kings. “It’s a tricky one because it’s so personal. The script is very, very good. Very good. I wouldn’t know [what sort of director we’d want]. It’s a hard one to track because it’s a very personal piece of my work. [Blade Runner] may be one of the most personal pieces I did. I got so beaten up for it, I said I’d never try that again. But here we are. It’s sitting there ready to be made.”

Blade Runner 2 will reportedly start filming next year, with Harrison Ford returning (in the third act) as Rick Deckard, and with Scott currently prepping The Martian and intending on shooting Prometheus 2 after that, it looks he’ll have to choose between the two sequels…

Would you like to see Ridley Scott helming Blade Runner 2, or would you prefer to see someone else in the director’s chair?
