Jesse Eisenberg talks reprising Lex Luthor role after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

January 23, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

With his latest film, The End of the Tour, premiering at this month’s Sundance Film Festival, Variety caught up with Jesse Eisenberg about the film, but also dropped in a few questions about another small indie film he has coming out next year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

While Eisenberg didn’t divulge too much, particularly about his hairstyle for the film, the actor did suggest that he would be more than happy to reprise the role in any future DC film, let alone a Batman v Superman sequel.

“I would love to,” says Eisenberg. “It’s a great group and director, and the most ideal character to play.”

Rumours are abound that Luthor is set to appear in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, whether in a cameo or as the film’s big bad. But while he has obvious excitement about the role and the forthcoming film, Superman wasn’t the actor’s favourite growing up.

“No [I wasn’t a Superman fan]… I never minded him. [I watched the film’s before playing the part], just to understand the context of this one. But no, not as a child.”

We’re positive that more juicy information regarding Lex will soon be revealed, but for now you still have to wait another year or so to see the much-anticipated DC pair-up.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice sees Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Jena Malone (Sucker Punch), Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
