Scott Eastwood to play Steve Trevor in Suicide Squad

March 31, 2015 by James Garcia

On Monday it was revealed that Fury actor Scott Eastwood had joined the cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film, and now his role has been revealed.

According to Latino Review, Eastwood will cameo as Wonder Woman love interest Steve Trevor, in order to set up his appearance in the 2017 Wonder Woman film. In the comics, Trevor is an intelligence officer for the United States Army, who crashes his plane on Paradise Island during World War II and comes across the Amazons. There, he meets Princess Diana, who falls for him and returns with him to civilization, where she later becomes Wonder Woman.

In the New 52, Trevor is more of a liaison between the U.S. and Paradise Island, and tries to convince Amanda Waller that Wonder Woman isn’t dangerous. He then becomes the head of ARGUS and the UN’s ambassador to the Justice League. Judging by how the DC Cinematic Universe has borrowed inspiration from the New 52 thus far, it’s safe to say that someone like Steve Trevor will probably be around for quite some time.

Latino Review has also confirmed fan suspicion that Resident Evil alum Raymond Olubowale will in fact play King Shark, via motion capture. He’ll also take on a minor role as part of Amanda Waller’s security team.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker, Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller, Scott Eastwood (Fury) as Steve Trevor, and Ray Olubowale (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as King Shark. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor, while Jay Hernandez (Hostel) has signed on for an unspecified role.
