Charlie Cox talks Daredevil joining The Avengers and putting on the iconic red suit

April 7, 2015 by admin

It had been rumoured for sometime, even after the first teaser, that we would see Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock putting on the iconic red suit at some point during Netflix’s Daredevil series, which debuts this Friday.

During a Reddit AMA, the British actor confirmed the red suit and spoke about putting it on for the first time, as well as the research he did for the role.

“I love both of the suits,” he said. “Obviously it was great to involve the John Romita Jr. black ninja costume but the day I first put on the iconic costume is a day I will never forget.”

“I really love the issues when Matt Murdock is defending the White Tiger,” he added, speaking about his preparation. “It was so cool to read a comic book with such a compelling courtroom scene. I also have to mention Jeph Loeb’s Daredevil Yellow. So touching. The greater part of my preparation was spent reading comics. I think you will find influence from many of the DD writers and illustrators over the years. Personally, I found Bendis/Maleev runs incredibly helpful in terms of the tone of our show.”

Cox also added that he would like to see Stilt Man appear in the second season of Daredevil, and that he is also a big fan of the character Purple Man – who is set to appear in A.K.A Jessica Jones played by David Tennant. When asked about who his other favourite characters were, Cox answered Thor and The Punisher.

But will we ever see Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man, Captain America and the rest of The Avengers?

“I really think Chris Evans does an amazing job as Captain America and I happen to think him and Daredevil would work well together,” he said. “I have no idea if this is even a possibility but I can tell you that I would love nothing more. I don’t see why the character from our show couldn’t fit in with the Avengers, if he was invited ;)”
