Krang set to feature in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2?

May 20, 2015 by admin

It looks like Judith Hoag might not be the only element of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-lore gone by set for the upcoming sequel as new rumours and reports have hit the net to suggest that classic villain Krang is set to make his live-action debut in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Cinema Blend have a “reliable source” who has said production has just finished filming a scene, “involving a number of extras and the character’s arrival on Earth through a portal of some sort.” The site does say that this is far from confirmed, but they trust the source to be accurate.

Last year, some concept art was leaked online for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which has since been taken down) that featured Krang along with Bebop and Rocksteady. Since we’ve had confirmation of the villainous duo (and casting for one half), could we be finally seeing Krang up on the big screen? The additions of Stephen Amell as Casey Jones and Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman suggest Paramount are very open to bringing in popular characters from cannon.

Krang first made his debut in TMNT cannon through the 80s animated series, as an alien from Dimension X who is an uneasy ally of Shreder and supplies his Foot Clan with alien tech in order to defeat the Turtles. He has since become one of the most inconic villains of the franchise, but despite his popularity was never used in a live-action capacity for the trilogy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies during the 1990s.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is being directed by David Green (Earth to Echo) and sees the return of Megan Fox (April O’Neil), Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello), William Richtner (Erick Sacks), Will Arnett (Vernon Fenwick), Danny Woodburn (Splinter) and new additions Stephen Amell (Arrow) as Casey Jones, Tyler Perry (Gone Girl) as Baxter Stockman, Brian Tee (The Wolverine) as The Shredder, Gary Anthony Williams (Boston Legal) as Bebop and Alessandra Ambrosio (Casino Royale) and Laura Linney (The Fifth Estate) in unconfirmed roles. The film will hit cinemas on June 3rd 2016.
