X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover rumoured for 2018

June 25, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With the San Diego Comic-Con International fast approaching, Latino-Review has been churning out rumours left, right and centre these past few weeks in the hope of bagging a scoop or two, and now the site has turned its attention to Fox’s Marvel properties, claiming that the plan is to cross over the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises with its as-yet-unrevealed 2018 release.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours of a crossover between the two Marvel properties (indeed, they’ve been rampant for a couple of years now), and considering Marvel Studios’ success with its shared cinematic universe, one would have to imagine that Fox would be desperately keen to follow suit. However, we’re yet to see Fantastic Four, and even though a sequel is slated for 2017, a spanner could be thrown in the works if the Josh Trank-directed reboot fails to live up to box office expectations.

It has already been confirmed that Fox’s X-Men franchise takes place in a “discrete universe” from that of Fantastic Four, although Simon Kinberg has previously stated that it is “not out of the realm of possibility” that the two superhero teams could come together, so don’t be surprised if this one does come to fruition at some point (assuming Fox’s contract with Marvel allows for such a crossover, that is).

Of course, given Latino-Review’s form as of late, there’s also a good chance this complete bullshit, so if you’re hoping to see the two Marvel teams joining forces on the big screen, I wouldn’t start getting too excited just yet…
