Sony to “reinvent” Men in Black franchise with new trilogy

September 24, 2015 by Gary Collinson

We know there’s been talk of the franchise crossing over with 21 Jump Street, but it seems those aren’t the only plans Sony has for the Men in Black.

Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have told The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is eyeing a new trilogy – one that won’t feature Will Smith.

“We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active,” said Parkes, with MacDonald adding: “It will be reinvented as a trilogy.”

Following the box office success of the third instalment in 2012, there had been talk that Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin could be back for Men in Black 4, although the fourth instalment appeared to fizzle out.
