Fox wants Doug Liman to direct Gambit

It looks like 20th Century Fox has identified its replacement for director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) on the upcoming Gambit movie, with Deadline reporting that Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is wanted for the X-Men spinoff.

According to the site, “recent Hollywood chatter has Doug Liman on an inside track to direct Channing Tatum in Gambit“, although the director could have scheduling conflicts should he decide to move forward with a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise.

Gambit is currently slated for release on October 7th 2016, and will see Lea Seydoux (Spectre) starring alongside Tatum.
