Star Wars: The Force Awakens overtakes Spectre to become UK’s biggest film of 2015, hits $1.5 billion worldwide

January 3, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It’s only a matter of time before it does this on a global scale, but Star Wars: The Force Awakens has overtaken Spectre to become the biggest movie of 2015 here in the UK.

Having pulled in £94.06 million so far, The Force Awakens has also surpassed James Cameron’s Avatar to become the second-highest grossing release of all-time in the UK. The record on these shores is held by Skyfall, which earned just shy of £103 million.
