Chewbacca to appear in young Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie

March 9, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Well, this won’t come as a surprise at all, but Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has confirmed that Chewbacca is set to appear in 2018’s young Han Solo Star Wars Anthology movie.

“We have other [Star Wars films] in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewie,” said Iger during the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference. “And that’ll come after Star Wars: Episode VIII in 2018. And then there’ll possibly be more thereafter.”

The Han Solo movie is set for release on May 25th 2018, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) directing. Several actors have been linked to the role of Han, including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and Blake Jenner.
